The one with the borked undead army.

I got my undead HOTT-army painted and based since the last update on the blog.
It's been a quick project with alot of shortcuts planned, and even more shortcuts taken, which meant I got them to this state in about 3.5 hours. Sans drying-time of course.
The reason I even printed and processed these in such short order between other projects was that I wanted a third army for Baycon the upcoming weekend. I will run a HOTT-demo on saturday as I have mentioned before. 3 armies to choose from > 2 armies to choose from.

The OOB is as follows:
1 Hero
1 Behemoth
1 Artillery
1 Horde
6 Blade

More shortcuts than planned you say?
Well yeah. The models used are mainly strips of Warmaster miniatures downloaded from Thingiverse with the rest of the models taken from other sculptors on.. Thingiverse..
This meant scaling up from 10mm to 15mm, and with that comes some issues mainly in the details-department. As in, details are severely lacking on some of the stuff.
Now, don't get me wrong. I knew well what I was getting myself into and in each step of the process, from finding the models to start painting them, I could have started over. I opted to go with the blobs that fell out of the printer and do the best of a kinda-okish situation.

What was meant as a quick and dirty skeletonhorde with white primer, wash and drubrush needed a couple extra steps due to the lack of details. Not to make the paintingprocess drag on forever I skipped some (basic) detailwork where it kinda was needed and went for a big-picture approach instead.
I am pretty happy with what I have on the table as an endresult.

The biggest boye in the horde. I went oldschool and added a chain for the wight ontop, even wrapped some paper around each one tusks to mimic some clampy-things. Gotta be honest, was pretty nice to do in this day and age of "pre-bashing" stuff in CAD and get the modded mini straight out of the printer.

Best picture I managed to get of the hero, which obviously could be played as a cleric/magician aswell.

In other news I have been hard at work on the Great Nordic War campaign-system me and the other Johan are inching away at. It's still very much in it's infancy, but we have decided on a few key points for the time being.

This will be the setting for the first Imaginations-version we are drafting up. A beautiful map with some overlayed point-to-point movement options between points of interest.
We will play it out with "Sweden" and "Russia" fighting over the control of "The Baltic States" in an early 18th century setting. We have opted to use 2mm miniatures and a modified version of 2x2 Napoleonics by Rod Humble for the actual wargame-portion of the campaign.

On top of this comes the actual system for the campaignmap, pre-battle setups, post-battle stage and so on, which we will reveal a bit at a time as they come into fruition.
I have had a serious burst of creativity the past week and written up a system where the players of the opposing armies use a card-driven mechanic to generate the actual scenario to be played on the tabletop.
Together with a strategic terrainplacement-system like used the ones used in Age of Hannibal or by Project Wargaming, it will make sure that each battle is somewhat unique and still gives the players a big say in what they want to do with their armies. There will probably never be a pitched battle with equal forces in an open sandbox style campaign, and I hope the system I have come up with remedies the issues with this. It's currently being reviewed by a few people across the globe and I have already recieved both positive feedback and suggestions for additions. So far, so good.

Apart from this we are gearing up to start playing the new epic from GW (Legionis Imperialis) and the other Andreas managed to get on the pre-order list for 2 boxes. I have mentioned before that I will print a custom Emperors Children-army for the project, but one of those rulebooks has my name on it!

On the table for now, a Stronghold for the Forest Cult. The picture is actually couple days old so the Union army is in the cubbard for now and I will probably start up the French and British 2mm troops seen in the previous pictures instead. Gotta have some models to learn the aforementioned 2x2 Nappies!

Cheers!

Ps. I should really, really print and paint a graveyard SH for the skellies.
