The one with yet another clash of Dreadnoughts on the North Sea!
Today I had a short game of the excellent Fighting Battleships again with Andreas at the helm of the Royal Navy while I took command of the Kaiserliche Marine. We had set the size of the engagement at 75 pts and by the magic of trying to maximise we both ended up at 74pts for our respective fleets.
My fleet had a heavy-hitting squadron of battlecruisers, a small squadron of pre-dreads while the mightly Helgoland had a couple other pre-dreads in tow as flagship of her squadron. The brits being brits has alot of guns no matter the cost of the ship. Oh well.

The setup before first move. |
As per usual I forgot to take alot of pictures, but will enclose the first and last of the game. If the game would have lasted a couple more turns (we cut it short due to eating applepie and having tea instead of gaming) we would have seen a different end-result as some ships would have started to disengage and even sink. The end-tally was 4 VP for the germans and 2 VP for the brits.

Last turn with squadrons awfully close to each other while makes for a bloody shootinground. |
Check my last blogpost for more information on the rules aswell as the ship-models.
A very enjoyable game, though I think I need to withdraw the rum rations for the British gunners, who again had considerable trouble hitting barn doors.
ReplyDeleteWell, you did roll high when shooting. :)
DeleteNarrator: You need to roll low to hit.
